book review | Presagio, by María Martínez

font

Presagio is the second book of a trilogy written by María Martínez and that is being reedited. The book starts just like the previous book ended, with William and Kate going to England to meet with his parents.

I have to admit that I didn't quite enjoy the first book of this trilogy, there where something that didn't add up, and others that I simply didn't enjoy. But let me tell you that I've definitely enjoyed this second book, way more than the first one.

Kate has been a character that I haven't connected with at all... and she reminds me too much of Bella Swan, and the same happens with William, who reminds me a lot of Edward Cullen... so yeah. The romance is definitively something that is not high on my list of things that I enjoyed. To tell you the truth I thought of it as quite bland and disappointing, mostly since I've read other books from the author and the romance was definitely on point, which is not the case in these books.

During the story, we get to know how did the pact between Vampires and Werewolfs started and how Sebastian became the king. At some point, I thought I had everything sorted out, at least some of my previous theories were turning true, but I was so wrong... And other secrets are revealed which makes us understand why is William so special.

We also finally know who is actually plotting against the treaty, someone who wants to break the curse that keep the Vampires isolated from the sun. We encounter the difficult decision that Kate need to make, become a vampire and leave everything else behind, or wait. Her actual response made me actually rethink the whole, she's just like Bella, but I really liked her decision. She wasn't ready, yet.

That end, though... I really need to read the next book, so happy that it's coming out next month!

My rating: 4 / 5 ★
