book review | las alas de sophie, by alice kellen

Alice Kellen became one, if not my favourite Spanish author since I read ''Llévame a cualquier lugar' and so far she has never disappointed me.

I finished 'Las alas de Sophie, by @alicekellen_' a few days ago and let me tell you I, was already crying in the first chapter. I was kinda scared that I wasn't going to enjoy it, mostly since I've read some controversial reviews, but I enjoyed it so much!

It is true that everyone griefs in a different way and no one can tell you how you must feel when you lose someone.

Sophie is a character that needs to deal with her own way of grieving, and she understands that she's incapable to do it by herself, so it was lovely to have her friends who helped all the way through, and mostly Koen. The story is told from her point of view and we get a glimpse of the past. We get to know how they all got to meet each other and what their friendship went through.

And even though we don't get to actually meet Simon in the present, it was nice to get to know him through, not only Sophie, but her friends and family, and how high everyone thought of him.

I really liked Ellen, Sophie's best friend and Amber, her little sister. They sure are unique characters that also help our main character go through her grief.

I do have to admit that I'm not really sure if I liked our main character, I was able to connect with her but at the same time I wasn't (?) I'm not really sure if you understand what I mean

To tell you there truth I couldn't stop grinning and crying and I just really loved the story, I just couldn't put the book down for one second. All I can think of is to read her new book that came out this month: 'Tú y yo invencibles'.

My rating: 4.75 / 5 ★
